Loose Mineral Cosmetic
Ingredient Definitions:
Mica: Earth mineral included in products to give them sparkle and shine. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1977.
Serecite: A fine grained, colorless (white) mica.
Titanium Dioxide: Inert earth mineral used as a thickening, whitening, lubricating, and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. It protects skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered to have no risk of skin irritation. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1973.
Zinc oxide: Inert earth mineral used as a thickening, whitening, lubricating and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. Zinc oxide is considered to have no risk of skin irritation. It also acts as an anti-irritant (anti-inflammatory) and antioxidant. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1977.
Iron Oxides: Compounds of iron that are used as colorants in cosmetics. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1977.
Ultramarine Blue: A brilliant deep blue pigment obtained from the gemstone lapis lazuli. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1976.
Ultramarine Violet: An inorganic, high-purity pigment. Ultramarine pigments are valued for their brightness, non-irritability and low levels of impurity. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1976.
Chromium Oxide Green: Inorganic earth mineral used as a pigment with an olive-green hue which gives a high level of opacity. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1977.
Carmine: Natural red colorant that comes from the dried female cochineal beetle. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1977. (This is our only non-Vegan ingredient. Ferric Ferrocyanide: Also known as Iron Blue, a coloring agent used in cosmetic products, including those designed for use around the eye. FDA approved for general use in cosmetics including eye area use in 1978.
