5 Best Fall Makeup Trends

5 Best Fall Makeup Trends

I’m not a slave to trends, but I do draw inspiration from the haute couture that hits the runways every fall. A couple of times I’ve been lucky enough to be in New York for the glory that is Fashion Week, but this year I was stuck on the Best Coast (Yeah, I said it. Take that, LA naysayers!), so I had to rely on all the gorgeous photography to tell me what’s in and what’s out. After scouring pages upon pages of glossy magazines, these are my five favorite makeup trends for fall--completely doable with Sheer Miracle’s fabulous line of natural makeup.

Minimalism

The crazy Kardashian contouring trend can take a back seat to this easy, natural look. Not too matte, not too pink, the trend on catwalks this year was monochromatic. Since I love Euphoria, I apply it on my eyelids and cheeks, and after applying a natural lip balm, I pat on a little of the blush on there, too. Full brows are still all the rage, so don’t go too nuts with your tweezers (as I’m wont to do). In three minutes flat you’re out the door--yes, please!

Glowing, Dewy Skin

Forget mattifiers--look like you just walked off the beach even when it’s 50 degrees outside. After applying a minimal makeup look, spritz yourself with the Sea Mineral Hydrating Mist. Go the extra mile and add a little shimmer with the Glow Finishing Powder just below your brows, on the top of the cheekbone, and on the tip of your nose and chin.

Cold-Kissed Cheeks

The inverse of the dewy skin look is to add a bit more blush to the apple of your cheek, so it looks like Jack Frost is nipping at more than just your nose. My favorite two shades are Adobe Sunset and Flame. A little goes a long way with these puppies, so be sure to blend in the circles on the fleshy parts of your cheeks across the cheekbone. Master that, and everyone around you will be asking if you want to borrow a scarf.

It’s All in the Lining

Seriously, in this category anything goes. Go full Liz Taylor in Cleopatra with extended cat eyes. Groovy, baby! Channel Courtney Love with a smudged, ‘90s grunge look (extra alternative rock points for blending that black pencil with bronzer or matte black eyeshadow on the lower lashes). For the more advanced makeup aficionado, try tightlining (upper inside eyelid) and waterlining (lower inside eyelid) using black, colorful, or white liner. In other words, get fancy, and draw to your heart’s content!

21st Century Smokey Eye

If winged eyeliner isn’t enough for you, add on with a smokey eye. Fall colors include both copper and jewel tones. Are you Van Morrison’s brown eyed girl? Try Royalty, Khaki, and Island Blue. Got a pair of baby blues? You’ll love Chocolate Silk, Bronze, and Sky. For the green or hazel girls like me, go for Goddess, Dirty Plum, and Passion.
