3 Ingredient Soothing Bath Soak for Sore Muscles (aka, Heaven in a Bathtub…)

3 Ingredient Soothing Bath Soak for Sore Muscles (aka, Heaven in a Bathtub…)

Does anyone else have a bad habit of letting too much time go between workouts and then (feeling guilty) and working out too hard when you finally get back at it? While you mentally feel great for “getting back on that horse,” it’s inevitable that aching, sore muscles follow in a day or two.

Here’s a simple recipe for my favorite muscle recovery, self-care soak. Simply add these three ingredients to a warm bath and sink in and relax for 30 minutes.

2 CupsEpsom Salt
15 DropsOrganic Argan Oil
5 DropsOrganic Tea Tree Essential Oil

That’s it. The aroma-therapy alone from this all natural ingredient combo will clear and refresh your senses. It smells heavenly!

HOW IT WORKS

Epsom Salt

Magnesium is the main element of Epsom Salt. It is a mineral that the body needs and, unlike other minerals, is absorbed through skin as you soak in the bath. Magnesium helps relax skeletal muscles by flushing lactic acid buildup in the muscles, which can happen from those over-zealous workouts. Magnesium plays an important role in the absorption of vitamins by the body. Plus, it helps regulate muscle and nerve function. All of these things significantly influence muscle soreness and stiffness.

Organic Argan Oil

While this oil won’t directly do anything for sore muscles, it will leave your skin soft as silk from head to toe. The moisturizing effects of Organic Argan Oil are legendary. It is rich in antioxidants and packed with Vitamin E and essential fatty acids. This multi-tasker has healing, conditioning and revitalizing properties for skin, hair, feet and nails.

Organic Tea Tree Essential Oil

The benefits of a tea tree oil bath include soothing skin irritations and rashes and treating painful, swollen joints by reducing inflammation. Some experts claim that taking a tea tree oil bath several times a week can relieve stiff joints and inflammation associated with arthritis and sore muscles. Tea tree oil is extremely concentrated and only a few drops per bath will do the trick. When you are feeling fatigued or sluggish due to toxins in the system (i.e., lactic acid from sore muscles), soaking in a tea tree oil bath may help draw out those toxins and purify your body. Adding tea tree oil to your bath is invigorating and revitalizing, yet very relaxing.

Something about the combination of these three simple ingredients leaves me feeling pampered and relaxed with less muscle soreness. Try it! Your tender muscles will thank you.d
