5 Natural Remedies for Acne

You can make it through your entire teenage years without getting acne at all, then all of a sudden, your hormones start raging and overnight your face is bombarded with adult acne. If this all sounds too familiar then carry on reading.  There is no need to run to the drugstores and purchase expensive scrubs or pharmaceutical skincare creams.

Here are five of the best natural remedies for getting rid of acne all in the comfort of your own home.

Apple Cider Vinegar Toner

Open your kitchen cupboard and mix together some pure unfiltered apple cider vinegar with some fresh water out of the tap. Be sure to shake up the apple cider vinegar first to distribute all the good stuff that's settled to the bottom.

This homemade remedy kills off the bacteria that may be causing your breakouts. With this in mind, it’s important you don’t overdo it, as you might dry out your skin. Using this method once a week will do your skin wonders.

Honey & Cinnamon Combo

Our next natural remedy method can get kinda messy. Be sure to apply this face mask just before you go to take a shower. All you need is some raw honey and cinnamon powder. Once you’ve got both these magical ingredients, mix them together in a bowl then apply it to your face by massaging it in with the tips of your fingers.

Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties, so it can help stop bacteria from getting out of hand and the honey is a natural antibiotic, ready and waiting to banish those unsightly pimples.

Egg Whites Facial Mask

An age old home remedy for acne harnesses the simple power of egg on your face. Get a mixing bowl and crack two eggs whites into it, making sure to leave out the yolk. Once you’ve put the yolks aside, mix the whites together with a fork and apply to your face. (This can get messy, so its best to apply before you’re about to get into the shower).

If you don’t like the feel off the eggs against your fingers, simply get some cotton pads, soak the pads into the bowl then place each one onto your face, making sure it is all covered. Once the mixture is dried on to your face, it gets very stiff, then you know it’s time to wash it off. Once it’s all off, your skin will feel silky smooth and look much brighter and healthier. This is an easy and affordable way to help reduce acne and fade scars left behind by blemishes.

Orange Peel Scrub

Not only are oranges good to eat, they also work wonders for your skin, all you need to do, is create an orange peel paste. Thanks to the vitamin C, citric acid, and its astringent properties which can wipe out all your spots out in one go. Vitamin C is particularly helpful because it promotes the growth of new healthy skin cells and keeps your skin in overall good condition.

All you need to do is grind up your leftover orange peel by using a blender and add a little water to create a paste. Once you have the right consistency, apply the paste to your face. Wait for 30 minutes then rinse it off completely with water, pat your face dry and watch the results unfold.

Lemon Juice Remedy

Who would have known that rubbing lemon juice onto your face could clear it up overnight? Lemon juice can instantly help get rid of breakouts for a number of reasons; it’s rich in vitamin C, which is good for all different types of skin and it’s a citric acid. The most important factor is that it’s an astringent. This will naturally dry out the blemish itself and heal it. It is also a natural skin whitener, which helps reduce redness. All you need is a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice and some cotton pads and you’re good to go.
