This Easy, Quick Smoothie Will End Your Excuses to Skip Breakfast

We can all come up with a million excuses for skipping breakfast, the most common reason is probably that you just don't have the time. Smoothies can be a saving force here. All you have to do is make sure your fridge is stocked with fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables (Costco is a great source for affordable frozen organic fruit mixes), toss them in your bullet blender cup and in seconds, you have a smoothie that’ll fill you up and lift your mood.

So many of you asked, so here's the recipe for the yummy smoothie I made this morning and posted on Instagram.

BERRY SPINACH PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

  • 4 Large Organic Frozen Strawberries
  • 1/4 Cup Organic Frozen Raspberries
  • 1/4 Cup Organic Frozen Blueberries
  • 1/4 Cup Organic Frozen Blackberries
  • 1 Cup Fage Zero Greek Yogurt (23g Protein!)
  • 1 Cup Organic Fresh Spinach
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Stevia Sweetener to Taste

I like more sweetener but my 18 year old daughter likes it to taste more "earthy." Stevia is all natural and safe so you can go crazy or hold back.

Not a stevia fan? Try a tablespoon of raw honey.

Vegan? Substitute the Greek yogurt for nut milk and a scoop of vegetable based protein powder.

Smoothies can be healthy and still taste good. Lower sugar fruits (like dark berries) and good-for-you fats (like avocado, nut butters and/or coconut oil) and a little natural sweetener (try pure stevia or raw honey) can take a bitter green mess and turn it into a delicious, rich, satisfying treat for your taste buds.

Hope you all have a healthy day filled with love and laughter.
